In an interview with FRANCE 24, former ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo reacted to the court's request for arrest warrants over the war in Gaza. The ICC has faced heavy criticism from Israel, the US, Germany and Canada since it announced it was seeking warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Moreno Ocampo called this reaction "disappointing". For him, attacking the ICC prosecutor's decision instead of focusing on the crimes is a "huge mistake".

When Europe created ICC they clearly meant it for African and Asian leaders not for Western leaders 😂😂.

The former prosecutor is correct in saying that attacking the prosecutor instead of focusing on the alleged crimes is a huge mistake, it's actually the worst mistake they could make, because it costs them their credibility. You flex your muscles when you have no arguments, I'm pretty sure they teach you that in debate classes.

Those that didn't sign up to the rome statute appear to be the biggest violators of the same.

A court's job is only to prosecute crime.. not pass moral judgement. So the allegation of 'moral equivalence' is nonsense. Requesting an arrest warrant is simply a procedure necessary to prosecute crime.

So timing is the issue? Not the crimes?

Kudos to France and some other Europeans for supporting international law. No one is above the law. Meanwhile the US has lost all credibility with their reaction. Same for the UK and Germany.

Well, Putin seems to love the criticism of the ICC. It's almost an endorsement of his actions.

If anyone has contrary view of khan and Amal then he is paid. It is apparent that ICC prosecutors committed a mistake and perhaps were under pressure

Discussion of facts and their relation to law is what counts. I believe this is what is contained in the ICC accusation. It is the Court, and not the prosecutor, which may then convict or absolve. That is how it should be. Let Israel show up and put forth a factual and legally based argument, and attend to consequence, including full exoneration/condemnation as warranted.

If the international committee sees Hamas as a terrorist group, why not the world leaders help Israel gather international armies to fight or keep international peace in Gaza? And remove Hamas.

The world must show to netanyahu supporters, that netanyahu and his defense are not better than those killed by Nato for crime
