They hate it because it's something born of practicality rather than pretension, like how some real-world sword buffs disdain pommel strikes and certain attacks from the bind as "improper."

In a fight to the death, there are no rules. I think this would be an excellent form coupled with Form 6.

Trakata is also a foolish manuver due to the opponent's ability to perceive the future. The Path of Destruction novel goes into this in detail but essentially 2 force wielders are playing chess with the blades, perceiving multiple moves ahead and seeking clarity in the force to accurately predict the opponent's move in a nanosecond. If you turn off your blade and do not surprise your opponent with this you are dead. It basically only works on someone who over commits to their attack. A Djem So user might fall for it, but a makashi wielder will take your head off the second you touch that control stud.

I could only imagine how dangerous this could be with a double bladed Lightsaber. If both blades were to be switched on and off at different intervals it would impossible to counter because you never know which blade is at and where it could come from until it would be too late. But then again doing so with double bladed Lightsaber could be just as dangerous to the user as it would be to the opponent.

This is the form i've identified with the most, and would likely use /sometimes/, the only problem is it banks on unpredictability, so you need to be keep them out of your head so they can't read you, and need to not use it constantly so people expect it from you.
