Pioneer DJ XDJ-XZ vs Denon DJ Prime 4 - Echo FX Battle

In this video I'll compare the echo FX between the Pioneer DJ XDJ-XZ and the Denon DJ Prime 4

Denon Prime 4 owner here: The Effects suck.
Filter and Wash are the only ones i use constantly. I wish they had a Spiral similar to pioneer, which works great for higher BPM music.
The ones on the FX sides seem to come on whenever they want, and aren't really "Primed" for music. I mean, 1/32th' of a note Flanger? But couldn't make it 16 beats? Come on :/

XDJ xz unfortunately has the better effect

It is very difficult to notice over youtube, but pioneer has worse DAC topology causing bad jitter, aliasing and non linearity errors. The Denon unit has a much better sound quality even with the fx. The CPU in the pioneer unit struggles to maintain linearity correction, so whilst you might 'prefer' the more gritty sound from the pioneer unit, it is in fact the errors which cause it.

Interesting point to note: Due to the bad DAC topology which has not improved over the years, a lot of DJs end up with listener fatigue. This causes DJs to feel the need to constantly increase the headphone/monitor level to try and hear the mix better, which for some has lead to permanent hearing damage.

Denon (now owned by Akai/Inmusic) know a lot more about sound quality, and is why the music sounds less 'trashy' on Denon units.

Denon is a winner. pioneer is just name and money

Hi, I have the xz, I always mix in the headphones with the cue, when the vocalist works with me his microphone annoys me, can I remove his microphone during this operation? as? Thank you

Denon has it’s own identity. Meaning it will probably combine industry standard FX with there own ideas. With the added benefits, we can live with P4 being slightly less impressive until they get up to speed with an update.

Possibly not a fair comparison if you're not going into the XDJ XZ at line level from the Prime 4 as this can compromise sound quality

Problem with the xz is you can’t assign different effects to different channels

unfortunately It goes to pioneer.... But the prime isnt horrible.
