In the Philippines, kids are taught one thing, "Family is the foundation of society, that your first and last refuge is Family".

I'm an American married to a Philippina and split my time between the US and Iloilo. What you said is 1000% accurate. I could not have said it better myself. I wish you lots of more happiness.

It’s true the culture of respect for elders is highly valued in the Philippines and it’s the opposite in western countries. You’re considered disposable when you get older in the US.

I couldn’t agree more. I am a Filipino working in a nursing home facility here in US. This man is healthier than old folks I take care of in my facility. Older people gets worst in nursing home. He still has a sharp mind and perfectly fit to raise toddlers. I happy to see western men like this in the Philippines, in a family oriented culture and enjoying it.

I hate to see Americans sent into nursing homes. Most nursing homes treated them badly.

You can judge by the man's aura. He's a genuinely nice, positive, vibrant, open-minded person that every Filipino would love to have living in the country.

He clearly understands the culture and the people. He obviously gets it. He really does. 🇵🇭💙❤️

In America, if you're old, you're for disposal. In Phil's., if got old the more you'll get love. That is our culture.

wow, I'm from Korea and what this gentleman says is actually what I had experienced in the Philippines.. He was able to put it into words so accurately. Racism is also one thing that I don't think is present. In Philippines, they even treat people from other countries with respect, sometimes even higher respect compared to other locals

I noticed that older population received more respect in the Philippines. During my vacation in Bohol, when I applied for my SSS ID at a local government office, the Staff gave prompt attention and even asked me to be served first than other younger applicants. I'm still back in the US enjoying my retirement since when I was 60 years old traveling to Europe and Middle Eastern countries 5 times a year. Hopefully I might definitely settle back to the Philippines.

What I love about him was when he said, that arguments and petty cases are first handled by the local chief or barangay 3x before it gets approve for a court case. No need to get a lawyer! And its free!
