Checking Out More Cheap Appliances at Lowe's

While Harley and I were buying home improvement supplies, we had to (of course) check out more modern appliances. We were noticed filming by a Lowe's employee, who started over to say something, and we walked away.

Calling those things "Made in USA" is like saying that cheap pre-fab Wal-Mart furniture is "Made in USA/Canada/etc." because you assembled it at home. I'm surprised they don't have the gall to write that on the box.

Just finished a load of laundry this evening in the 1980 Kenmore/Whirlpool belt drive washer with mechanical controls and timer, and matching 1980 Kenmore/Whirlpool dryer with the same. Seeing the junk shown in the video is incentive to keep these durable machines forever.

My 35 year old dryer makes steam when it heats the wet clothes. This can be witnessed at the exterior vent on a cool day. When the steam stops, the clothes are dry.

HE just means the scrapyard can use less energy to crush the millimeter-thick metals of a washer after 2 years of half-assed “service” where it spreads the dirt from more heavily soiled clothes to cleaner ones (but only if you run 2 cycles on every load)

Luckily the Whirlpools my parents bought around 15 years ago are still working fine. Is there even a washer sold at Lowe's with an old-style agitator?

It'll be a lot of bloodshed and tears between my mother and I if her 15 year old Frigidaire washer-dryer pair ever gives out. She goes gaga over what the new stuff has. The more buttons and displays, the better.

Somebody in my neighborhood recently put a Haier brand fridge on the curb, and it had a manufacture date of June 2015. Do you think you could show us that vintage fridge you just scored? Certainly sounds like a better unit.

In the UK front loaders are common but I only seen a few top loaders but they are only in charity stores! They used to do top loaders 40 years ago like Hoover though they were ones with agitators.

almost every time i go to lowes i almost always see marked down newer appliances that had to be repaired. I have a 10 year old whirlpool cabrio though it has the no suspension and load sensing BS, it hasn't needed any repairs yet. I'm guessing 10 years ago they still cared about the product being sold . Or we got lucky with this one because i have heard of numerous reports of failing control boards from the same machines.
