the story behind kunta kinteh is interesting, though it wasn't the commonwealth which directly set up shop there, it was Courland and Semigallia, i.e., germans who ruled over modern day Latvia

The newly elected president fled to nextdoor Senegal to protect himself, and in 2017 Senegal recognized his legitimacy and helped him return home and take power and the old president fled to his own exile.

In 2021 he was re-elected president

Well, you have to create borders at some point. Sub-saharan Africa was very tribal before colonialism, the "natural" borders for those population would have resulted in like 200+ small countries. It's the opposite of what you're thinking: there are more ethnicities in sub-saharan Africa than in the rest of the world combined, they are very divided because of this.
Also, during independance they had the choice to change the borders, they didn't. Also again, other regions around the world have shit borders more or less related to colonialism too: the -Stan countries, the Indian sub-continent... yet nobody mentions that excuse all the time for them.
Also again again, Africa had actually a fairly small population in the past, in 1900 it's estimated around 100 million people. It's just that it has been multiplied by 14 times, so today there are a lot of people yeah, around 1.4 billion, but it's a rather new phenomenon..

edit: dude... aside from the coastline, the colonization of Africa (the borders you saw at least) only existed for around 50 years, Africa was colonized at very end of the 19th century. Those borders didn't exist for "centuries".

Another great episode of, "Man, what would our world be like if our ancestors weren't greedy, arrogant, bigoted pieces of crap?"
