Common Scuba Diving Hand Signals

Communication is key for safe scuba diving, but with a reg in your mouth, it's hard to clearly convey a message to your buddy. That's where hand signals come in. While divers around the world may have their own take on many signals, here are some of the most basic ways to communicate underwater.

Very good. All signals indicated clearly and labeled. Although I have indicated thousands with one index finger tapping on my arm. Love the Sea Life signals. How about Trumpet fish? :)

The sea life signals are overkill except for Shark. All you really need to do is use the Look signal and point at it.
The other needled to know is "Which way" by using a clenched fist with thumb out on side and rotating it side to side at the wrist. It's a pointing motion.
Sorry, was a PADI instructor for 15 years.

Tbh the signals for sea life are fun but dont seem super neccesary. Except maybe a couple for things that are hazards. If you did want to be able to name animals it might make more sense to just learn the ASL alphabet and spell the name of whatever animal you see.

Are we not going to discuss the thumb?
