CHEVY C10 | Rear Gas Tank Install / Conversion

On today's episode of Classics Are Better I am going to remove an old beat up fuel cell and install a brand new LMC 17 gallon rear mount center fill gas tank in my 1966 Chevy C10 I call "Bandit".

I go over the stock tank removal, fuel cell removal, new tank install, and how to plumb it up to your fuel system. Not too hard of a job, just takes a little elbow grease. Hopefully this video will help guide some of you out there thinking of doing this yourself. Personally I am not a big fan of having the gas tank inside the cab with me!

PLEASE be safe if you are handling gasoline, it can obviously be dangerous. Again I am not a professional mechanic, but I was able to get it done without issue, take your time and be smart and it should work out for you. Consider my video as just a guide to a possible way to get the task done. Be safe and use your brain when doing projects!

Travis, you need some rubber between the metal tank flange and the frame. I used an old mud flap or horse mat. But the tank must be isolated from the frame with rubber. Then use your ground wire off the tank to the frame like you did. Great job dude!

My brother really needs one of those for his '71 C-10! We definitely don't like the factory tank mounted in the cab!

I should have mounted ground on bottom side in case needs dropped.

Does anyone know if this tank will also fit the frame rails of a 1980 C10? I would assume it would, but not sure if anyone knows for certain.

Hey man great video! Just wondering what’s the name of the tank or truck it’s made for?

So someone did this one my 66’ Chev. It is exposed to the weather. Will water get in? Also I have one small tube left open off the sending unit. Can I just throw a breather on it? Thanks in advance 😊

Perhaps you can help me. I have a 2003 E350. It's a box. I need a gas tank but I've had no luck finding a used one in any good shape. And the new one is very very expensive. Could you recommend a way I can find some other gas tank to install. Since it's fuel injected that's going to make a difference correct?

Thanks for your help.

Have you had any problems with the tank since you put it in? I need to do this to my c10 soon.

I'm doing a similar install, what's that aluminum fuel line, and what do i need to bend it into shape and connect?

Do you drill holes to bolt on straps only and bolt tank to the two existing holes already on frame separately??

What are your thoughts on spraying a rubberized coating on the tank?
