Thanks millions...! I have a cedar sided house (built in 1949) which needs attention. Cedar is dry and cracked in some places, but not rotten. I can't afford new siding, so this looks like the solution.

Thank you for this video. I planned to use backer rod but I needed some confirmation it was the right way to go! 😊

Around my area most board and batten buildings (sheds garages primarily) are usually hemlock

Question im as amateur as it comes to home repair however wouldnt spray foam for the repair work instead of backer rod and then silicone after? Just curious im going to seal the exterior of our new house however the supports are logs with the same type of siding but there are some pretty large gaps in-between the logs and siding.

Should we be spraying this type of siding for bugs? Wondering how to maintain it, as we bought a house with this kind of siding and never had wood before

Backer rod good. Dynaflex 230 bad for exterior. Get some Geocell 2300 and the repair will outlast the house.

I have seen backer rod and self leveling silicone used for decades on concrete, no reason that the same concept won't work in most other places, despite gravity.
