Necessary and Sufficient Conditions

preview_player
Показать описание
In this video we compare NECESSARY conditions and SUFFICIENT Conditions. Suppose you are trying to conclude some statement B. A necessary condition is a statement A that must be true if B were to be true. A sufficient condition is a statement C where if you know C is true, then you can conclude that B is true. Confusing these two is one of the most common logical errors people tend to make in their day to day life.

Studying for the LSAT and this is the ONLY thing that has helped me understand necessary and sufficient conditions. THANK YOU!

This is absolute gold. It breaks down what every expert regards as "obvious" and never care to elaborate on, which can potentially lead to students going down their lives with misconceptions and holes in their knowledge for years.

The structure alone of the content in this video is extraordinary. Near the end, the colored keywords, sufficient and necessary, being in order with the colored shapes really makes it click. Your teaching style is incredibly effective and absolutely phenomenal!

I have read and watch numerous articles and videos on this subjects, and this is hands down the best explanation. Was just hoping he could apply it to a social issue such as immigration and residency.

So the conditional statements where A(x)= Car, B(x)= Driver and C(x) = Driver's license
'If you have a Car then you a Driver' and 'If you are a Driver then you have a Driver's license.'
Is (Car a sufficient condition for being a Driver) and (Driver's license a necessary condition for being a Driver)?
