What is the best anti-slice driver of 2021? NCG's resident 'power fader' put three to the test!

Golf's biggest brands are hitting the anti-slice market in a big way with their driver offerings in 2021.

NCG's equipment editor Hannah Holden never misses a fairway, so she's roped in Alex Perry and his 'power fade' - his words, not ours - to test out the draw-bias models from TaylorMade, Ping, and Callaway.

Will any of them cure his slice and get him in the short stuff? And which was his favourite to hit? You know what to do.

I switched to Sim2 Max D in July. Was a power fader, the MAX D has made the misses smaller. Very happy with it. Added about 15 yards to drives too. My old driver was 6 years old, the new technology has helped.

Ping G425 Max. Weight in draw position. The sound of the driver is a lot better than the sound of leaves and branches crunching under your feet while looking in the woods for the ball you hit with your old driver

Good content, would like to have seen shot tracer.

One of the best reviews I have seen. they are usually done by a pro who can hit 300 yards. This was extremely helpful. It would have been nice thought to see the ball flights

Im a natural fader but can normally keep it on the fairway if I set up right. I have both SIM max (10.5 + 1 notch on the hosel adjuster) and a SIM d max (9.0 std setting). SIM d I prefer at address due to thicker white front edge and head shape. Ive tried switching shafts between them and still cant hit a controlled draw. I can hit small fade, straight or hook. I think the word draw is misleading as its more correction than flight. Best test is into the wind to escuate side spin. SIM rescue and 3Ws are beasts. I didnt get on with the 3W max d off the fairway as toe tended to dig in but great off a tee.

What is the guy’s handicap? Shot tracer would be good. What about lessons as well to help your slice? Good review though.

Just have to say that with every video I've seen of anti-slice, I've never seen a bad swing. Lets get a high handicapper who has a full fairway miss and see if any club makes a difference. My guess would be no.

What about the Tour Edge E722 for anti slice senior slower swing speed and don’t hit the center often.

I’m a 70 year old senior golfer. Currently play a Ping G425 Max at 12* with a 40G regular flex. The G425 Max is fantastic but Ping has probably the heaviest head of all the major brands. My normal shot is a slight fade. When I swing hard it turns more right. Average carry is 190-200 rolling out to 215-220. Thinking about trying the Sim2 D when the price drops. I think my swing is neutral enough to hit the lighter draw biased club straighter and thus gain another 5-10 yards. Is the Sim2 D as forgiving as my Ping?

I'm a bit of a gear freak even at 68 but the SIM Max D has been consistent and is going to remain in my bag for a long time. I also have the Ping G425 Max

Very humble and honest tester. 220-240 carry is not bad at all. A little bit of gym time and a few lessons and he could take it to 240 to 260 carry with total distance of 250 to 290.

Distance / $ for a draw driver it is hard to look past the Cleveland HB Turbo. They make a 10.5 draw model and adding 20 gm of lead tape to my 12 degree heel side my " power fade" is tamed. In fact, I am thinking I might need fewer grams as my miss is now 36% left side / 14% right. Playing from the trees and rough left side is just as annoying! It would be interesting to compare the new XL Launcher draw model too.

Have had a horrific slice off tee for years. Bought draw drivers thinking it helps. Never found they did as hit properly they then hook left. Get lessons and practice your swing. Only way for me to cure it. Still slice/fade off tee when I don't concentrate on swing but nowhere near as much.

As someone who suffered from a power fade for a long time, if you have the money for one of these drivers spent it on some lessons instead. Over 18 months I have gone from losing the ball a long way right off the tee to even having a slight draw. (at least with some shots, most of pretty shot) ... and it is down to lessons and me making the commitment to be willing to practice a lot between lessons on whatever the last lesson was about

does the Ping sound like a tin can to anyone else? Sounds awful.

Gimmick more than help, only a swing fix will truly fix a slice. Stop coming over the top and across the ball, problem fixed!
