For those wondering why that happened:
Zykov was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union by Lazarev before entering the facility. The doors were welded behind him. Zykov managed to close the rift but ultimately left him trapped in the Dark Aether with no means of escape as he became tethered to this hostile dimension
