I've stopped with all the remake collectibles unless they're going to be played. There's so many ways to play these games and I've collected so much of this stuff over the last two decades. It was the Arcade1Ups that really did it in for me. These Arcade Classics are small, but they're not going to get played much if at all. (Is someone really going to play a game they can play on basically any platform on these things?) Like you say, they're shelf ornaments and there's only so much room. I've pretty much put a stop buying anything physical unless it has some real utility and will actually get used for retro gaming. In that vein, TheC64 Maxi and TheVIC20 were my only physical retro purchases last year.

The video graphics quality on the Walmart mini arcades that I have noticed, are some of the best for the money. The major cutback as you noticed is the cosmetics of the cabinet. They just feel cheap, but work surprisingly well... I have seen ones at other stores that look like backlit tiger handhelds on the screen. The only one that I own is from Walmart. It's the Fix-It Felix Jr game from the Wreck-It Ralph movie. It plays excellent and I have seen lots of other Walmart mini arcades that play just as well. Too bad they look like someone 3d printed them in their basement and found some stickers at the hobby shop...

Full price buys? No, not at all--if you have adult hands, the functionality and play of them can be tough. But at half or fraction prices? Oh, absolutely snag them. They are great little display pieces to have fun with. We've got a nice line of them on top of our game shelves and pair them with toys--especially the NECA Tooney Terrors line because it's just fun having Pinhead by the Q*Bert machine or Jason next to Dig Dug.

That happened to us too! We returned it, very disappointed. I finally found the 40th Anniversary one on the shelf at Walmart so I grabbed it. The only one I have every seen. I don’t think they made many.

So for Christmas somebody got my son a little mini Pac-Man arcade machine, sadly the one in this video looks better than the one we got, it’s definitely a little novelty, my son thinks it’s neat, but yeah I would definitely not be going for a high score on these things. Great job on this video man!

Great video Emceemur! I actually got the Tetris version as my secret Santa gift from work. I was skeptical about the PAC-man one, but sold now seeing you play it. Game play and the screen display looks decent.

I have them on a shelf that rotates in a small connecting hallway. I'm trying to do both versions of ones that have lcd style screens and bigger ones which are the nes rom chip ones

In regards to these items overall, I've got Dig Dug and Centipede units and they both run pretty well! If you ever decide to start collecting these, I'd love to hear your thoughts on 'em!

The same thing happened to me, I do collect them I have all 32 different ones now. I purchased a Pac Man on ebay the picture was of 40th anniversary with the arcade graphics. They sent me a normal Pac Man with arcade graphics. I sent it back for a refund, they are obviously drop shipping them.

Nice unit but I would have returned it just by principle... not only it wasn't the one you wanted, but it has scratch and sticker peeling off... I mean it's brand new so it should look like it! Great video and keep up the good work!

Good video, too bad you didn't get the right one. My son has a few of them and I told him to save his money as we have can play the same games on the TV. Then I realized his plan, he keeps them in his room as we just think they are like any other toy and uses them when we send him to his room. We think he is reading but now I know what he is really doing.
