Directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay by David Scarpa, “Napoleon: The Director’s Cut” stars Joaquin Phoenix as the French emperor and military leader. The film is an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine, played by Vanessa Kirby. The film captures Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and astounding strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary. An Apple Studios production in conjunction with Scott Free Productions, “Napoleon: The Director’s Cut” is produced by Scott, Kevin Walsh, Mark Huffam and Phoenix, with Michael Pruss and Aidan Elliott serving as executive producers.

And there I was yesterday, wondering when the Director's Cut will be available.

Blade Runner, Kingdom of Heaven and now this.

Might as well call Ridley Scott a "microwave chef" because every time he cooks, he needs to reheat it.

Hopefully it's better than the theatrical

Thank goodness there will be a director's cut of this film, for a moment we thought it wasn't going to come out

The extended scene where Napoleon says "I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!" was true cinema.

Ever since I saw it in the cinema, I knew this version would have to come out. It will be a pleasure to see it "complete" this time

Nothing can save that movie anymore...

At last. Let's hope it's another Kingdom of Heaven-esque improvement!

To save everyone here the trouble, this extended cut does not save the theatrical version like it did with the Kingdom of Heaven. It’s just more rushed soulless “historical” scenes and more screen time for Josephine. It actually makes Napoleon’s depiction here worse and way more man-child and cringey.

This movie was doomed from the start, since Ridley Scott thinks cramming 20+ years of the most extravagant and iconic political/military career in human history into a less than 4 hour time restraint was a great idea. Another wasted $200 million and another wasted opportunity to do Napoleon some cinematic justice.

I saw DC. It's really better, the pacing here is more oxygenated and Josephine's character has better development.

How can they make a Napoleon film bad, his story itself is already one of the best scripts they could get 💀

"You think your so great because you have boats." Really that's the cause of French and British animosity.

I was waiting for this for so long. Because of this I didn't even watch the original movie. Finally it'll be worth the wait.

No. They told us the directors cut would well exceed 4 hours in length. This is barely 3 hours. 48mins extra sounds like a lot but the original 2h 25ish to tell this kinda story was one of the biggest hinderances in the main film.

As if they didn't have enough historical inaccuracies in the original cut. Now we get more.

They need to just learn that cutting down a Ridley Scott movie is never a good idea idea .
