This was the year I rediscovered my love for fantasy and I have to credit the Caraval series for that. Like you, I picked it up just to get some context before diving into Once Upon A Broken Heart and I was pleasantly surprised by how immersive it was for me. I really enjoyed the Caraval series but I can't stop thinking about ouabh. Excited to finally try ACOTAR, The Cruel Prince and many other books/series next year and learn more about what I like. ❤

I choose books completely differently to you. I use Book Bub to find new books and read ones I think look interesting and usually have a 4+ star rating. I do wonder how many books I'm missing out on, by limiting the rating. I have nearly 300 unread on my Kindle though, so I'm not short on choice 😂
I'm glad I have Good Reads to tell me my ratings, otherwise, I'd definitely forget :D

In 2023 I read 36 books and my only five star was a re-read of Code Name Verity.

I also very rarely rate things one star. Only one book in 2023, because I DNFed it. It was I’d Really Prefer Not to Be Here with You, and Other Stories. Very Black Mirror-ish and the stories never felt complete to me.

I’m 31, and also haven’t been able to to read/watch highschool characters. Even college. Especially if there’s like romance it feels like something I should not be witnessing 😂 having a hard time starting Red Rising cause the main character seems to be underage (our world standards) and it makes me feel gross lol
