La Bohème is an opera in four acts, composed by Giacomo Puccini between 1893 and 1895 to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on Scènes de la vie de bohème (1851) by Henri Murger. The story is set in Paris around 1830, and shows the Bohemian lifestyle of a poor seamstress and her artist friends.

This magnificent composition will forever evoke the memory of my dear maternal grandmother. She was cultured, loving and refined woman who adored Italian opera. My earliest recollection of Musetta's Waltz was as a young child, while sitting on her lap as she rested from preparing one of her legendary dinners. As the music filled her kitchen, the room bathed in afternoon sunlight, she scooped me up, held me with both arms in her signature warm embrace, and began to dance. She would gently whisper how beautiful I was, and give praise to God for my presence in her life. Thank you so very, very much for posting.

This song sounds like falling in love. Nice and soft strings, but followed with a confident and overwhelming brass!

I love this song because my mother is a pianist and when I was young she would play this occasionally while practicing. So nostalgic.

Gorgeous and poignant. Every time I hear this song I recollect being held in my Sicilian grandmother's arms as a young child and her gently and affectionately dancing with me in her bright, sunlit kitchen. Thank you for posting. Puccini was an artistic genius who captured the human spirit with his music.

Such a great-looking guy. When Arturo Toscanini asked him why he was crying when they both attended a terrible provincial performance of Boheme, Toscanini said, Why are you crying? Because it's so bad?" Puccini replied "No, because it's so beautiful."

In a grocery store many years ago, I was whistling the song Don't You Know by Della Reese and an elderly lady came over to me and said that that was her favorite aria.. She saw my puzzled expression and explained the entire plot of Puccini's La Boheme

I had the honour to speak with one of Puccini’s granddaughters (since I am from Lucca, his birthplace) and they told me a lot about him. He was a music genius that had the ability to hear music even in deep silence. Love from Lucca

I'm here because I'm Italian and I have loved opera since I was little. This was a favorite of mine as a kid. Rent actually didn't bring me here. I have seen La Boheme twice (once when I was eight and once when I was seventeen) and I've never seen Rent.

1:44 - 1:51 I felt that in my brain. It started in the stem and just worked it's way up and out with the crescendo. Amazing.

Okay, who cares why we're all here? For some reason or another, we were all brought together to listen to this gorgeous piece of music. Whether RENT, Moonstruck, or love of Puccini brought us here, we all have the capability to appreciate this song nonetheless.

I don't want to sound corny, but I love what this music does for the movie Moonstruck.
