I’ve just noticed after all these years that Burr’s first line in this song fits so well into his character and I can’t stop thinking about it!

He’s so unwilling to commit to anything that he won’t even admit to being himself when asked. Whereas Hamilton is upfront with who he is from the very beginning.

Burr waits to reveal who he is until he is able to get more information. He hides himself.

Hamilton doesn’t miss his shot to get his name out there and be known to the world.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I really like this depiction of Burr, especially this scene, even though it sets up the conflict between him and Hamilton, it starts with Burr being nice to Hamilton and trying to be his friend.
