Great video. I'am a seasoned Locomotive Engineer but, besides that, it's great to see honest people on the web explaining proper "How toos" to the general public.
Kind regards! Eric Dee.

It that good of a job explaining this, most important part you guys forget to mention is that the car should be warned up for stress 10 minutes to get an accurate reading that is important.

Great info. I checked mine when my engine was cold. Glad I check out your video. I will let it run and check it on a level surface.

The transmission needs to be at operating temperature which may require driving the vehicle for 20 or 30 minutes. The temperature gauge on the dash is for engine coolant and not for the transmission.

Your shirt is really white and clean. How long have you been working with cars?

In addition to all the other fails mentioned in the comments, the dye changes color long before the fluid is bad. 1:08 "...probably ready to change that fluid out..." is incorrect in many cases. The purpose of the dye is to identify which fluid in the event of a leak. Forever fluids won't stay pink, but do stay good. If you really want to understand the condition of your fluid, you could consider paying for a lab to analyze a sample.

Did I miss something? I thought the engine was suppose to be warm before checking the transmission fluid. OIC you did mention it but so fast I didnt hear it the first time!

Hey, I've put 1.5ltr of fluid into transmission, and it's not coming up to the hot mark,
I noticed it was on the cold mark even after 1 hour of driving,
Should I just keep filling?
Or is something wrong?I don't wanna over fill,
Manual says it's a 4.8l trans, I've but 1.5lrs in, it seems to be past the cold mark(when cold) but wayy under the hot mark(when hot)
I check when engine is on, in park, an go up thru gears,
The transmission seems to be running fine, just I noticed fluid level was under and wanted to bring it up

you did not mention that you have to check oil on even level ground

Caution: This is completely wrong. The fluid should be between to two 'cold' marks if the engine is cold, or between the two 'hot' marks if the engine is hot. DO NOT OVERFILL or you'll experience transmission failure.

The engine should be running in park to get a true reading.
