Ever wondered what happens when you fly away from home to do the whole FIFO gig? What if your partner or family member does it?

Here’s a look into both the day and night shift life of a FIFO worker. Everyone is different, and excluding those exceptional circumstances, this is what most get up to.

Good stuff Keith. This came up in my YouTube recommendations and feels like nostalgia. I got started with you guys there in 07/08 and probably drove you (and Brian’s entire crew) a bit crazy, but really appreciate the help and patience you gave back then to get me up to speed 👍

Thanks for the video mate, living in Emerald now but looking to FIFO WA. I never really noticed a difference but it's best practice to put your washing powder/detergent in top load machines first. As the water fills it will dissolve the powder sooner and start cleaning sooner as opposed to waiting for the water level to get up the top
Cheers

Cheers for the video. Currently 18 and about to finish school. I'm genuinely interested in becoming a FIFO miner. Dad works in the mines already so hopefully I'll be joining him soon and become a FIFO

Hi Keithy I’ve never done fifo work but it’s always interesting to see how workers live when away in the middle of no where. It’s almost like a sub culture on its own. Great video mate👍

Hi, I'm Korean who's coming here in Aus as working holiday visa. I found this FIFO things while searching for the jobs, and I'm so attracted the life of FIFO workers. So I'm now getting ready to get FIFO job and finding people who's really working at the mining site(especially finding trade assistant job cause I don't have any technology, so I thought TA is the best for me). And I finally saw your videos, it's really helpful for getting ready and so interesting. One day I hope saw you at the site mate.

I always wondered what life in the mines would be like. I worked offshore for many years and I would say you guys have a harder gig. I think it’s more geared for you to make money faster and get out of it. I think your rota was 4/1 ours is usually 2/2 3/3 4/4 or 2/3 if you are core crew in Norway they done some rotas like 2/2 then 2/4. Also we don’t cook, clean or do washing after a 12 hour shift and alcohol is a total no no. So I think offshore is better long term but mines possibly better to get money made faster but no way could you keep it up with a wife and family for very long. All the best lads stay safe 👍🏻

love your video only thing that could have been added was time of day between each clip and maybe day of the week but that is not as important

otherwise nice insight and look into a fifo worker week thanks again for the upload i am always interested in this stuff because this is where the money is at and honestly the lifestyle would suit me as a lonely bachelor that likes to keep to himself

Worked labor jobs before, really want to go into the mines and give it 100% It's not just the money but the physical work which essentially replaces the gym (healthy diet of course). No missus, no kids, nothing holding me back.

i’m a 23 year old mechanical fitter from the UK currently working as a ministry of defence contractor (nuclear submarine manufacturing). currently saving for my skilled worker visa and then going to try and save maybe £10-15k and then make the jump to perth and pay for my tickets (white card, confined space w/ gas, working at heights) and then hopefully get a FIFO job in the mines. Do you think i would struggle to find work as a apprenticeship served mechanical fitter?
