Can the Jelly 2E Make Me More Intentional About the Way I Use Tech?

The Unihertz Jelly 2E is a full android smart phone. With pretty much all the features that you would expect from any phone. But it is in a tiny package! The question is, can I live with it as my main phone, so that I don't just automatically use the large foldable that I normally carry?!

It would be cool to see a hybrid smartphone with an OLED display and an e-ink display. I mean they're finally creating good hinges, and onyx is pretty decent at integrating Android with color e-ink, so why not. Imagine a main OLED screen then opening your phone to reveal a large e-ink display.

This phone could be a good way to go distraction free. The keyboard seems like the most limiting factor. There could be two keyboards that could work: T9, and Messagease.

Edit: It seems the Jelly Star was recently announced as well!

That's such a nice and cute phone. I miss using my Sony Xperia Tipo so much!? This one seems a bit thicker than Xperia Tipo but still a right direction.
Love the price. Car navigation might be a problem but it seems lovely still.

Interesting. I just moved to a big slab phone (S23 Ultra) after almost two years on an iPhone mini with minimal apps in order to be more intentional.

I think it worked for now, however I moved back to a big slab as I find myself wanting to do more on the phone again and the iPhone (while capable) was limiting with its battery life and screen size.

I still have my eink devices but I'm reviewing what gadgets I do use to pair down how many devices I have. Having a single device that can do many things is how I seem to want to work right now, rather than many devices for specific needs.

Please share your experience. I had not thought of moving to a distraction free environment until I started following you. The Jelly 2E looks like a nice phone.

Is there a follow up, did you end up feeling it fit your needs or switching to something else?

I'd say the only Unihertz that makes sense is the Titan Pocket. With the Before launcher. And monochrome screen :)

What's the update on this? Did you stick with it and did it lead to less screen usage? I have a candy bar phone but there are somethings that I need a smart phone for.

Believe jelly 2e is missing one key piece - no NFC, means that you need to carry bank cards around. Original Jelly and believe Jelly Star has NFC

Wonder what your thoughts would be about an e-ink phone, like the Hisense A6L?

Surprised you didn’t go with the Hisense dual screen eink phone to encourage intentional use but still have a full android with you when you need it - I guess the idea is cold turkey? 😊
