I used to work with a slim lady who searched for plus size clothing in charity shops. She cut the garments into their separate pieces and then worked out how to use the fabric to make herself tunics, sleeveless dresses and pull on skirts. She always looked marvelous. She also did alterations for other people.

My tip if you have a day out is to take a flask and a packed lunch. It saves a fortune. Also, if you go to the cinema, take your own snacks and drinks, the prices are through the roof.

My frugal tip is take a flask. Refuse overpriced takeaway drinks.

One tip is to go to the supermarket with a list and stick to it instead of picking up random things that you don't need. That has been one of my biggest weaknesses.

I enjoyed listening to your stories as not many UK people are on YouTube.

My tips: batch cook and freeze. Pick a day/night and spend it cooking. Save containers to freeze food in. Cut down meat and fish intake. Buy lentils and make daal. Collect vege food recipes from internet. Pur baco foil behind you radiators and make sure to use a bleeding key to save power. Invest in an electric blanket and go to bed early in the winter. Shop in charity shops and if you see something that is too big that you like consider adding up the price to an alteration bill. Chances are it will still be cheaper. Cleaning: use white vnegar and water for floors, glass and kichen tops. Use a tiny drop of light oil for wooden furniture. Shop for toothpaste, shampoo, washing powder etc at places like savers. Every week treat yourself to something. Even if it is just a small bar of chocolate. Fashion advice would be buy the simplest clothes, no leopard prints or bright coloured fabrics the dress up your plain outfits with thrifted scarves, jewellery etc. For instance I bought a plain navy dress at TKMaxx. I have worn it to a lot of social events just changing a belt, earrings or scarf. Have fun ❤

Great video thank you. My income has just unexpectedly been cut in half and I have been worrying about how I would cope so your channel is really helpful. Also you’re a lovely person with such a nice smile that you make me feel like I’m taking advice from a friend. Thank you again 😊

“Stop spending” Yep that was a big thing for me. I must have spent about £300-£400 a month on Amazon and Wool Warehouse (learnt to crochet last year) about six months ago, but then I’d wonder why I didn’t have any money at the end of the month! Now I delete or unsubscribe to emails trying to sell me stuff. I have a triple wardrobe full of clothes so don’t need to buy anymore and the small bedroom is crammed full of yarn and craft stuff because of my overspending, I could open a shop! 😱 Thanks for your tips 😘

Watching you has inspired me! I am adjusting to a much simpler life on a retired income at 74 years old, ex social worker. I like the way you show the enjoyment of your life- it took me a while to get into simple & happier living & your channel is a pleasure to watch. Thank you, Ali

Just subscribed. My frugal tip - check if your library offers ebooks and access to emagazines - it saves a fortune.
On water use ours is pretty low, we have an electric shower because the gas boiler is at the other end of the house. The plumber looked at me as if I was mad when I said we wanted it, apparently he puts his shower on then goes to undress - by the time he gets back it's hot enough! I said I couldn't stand the thought of wasting that much drinking water. Our shower is ready to use in under 30 seconds and I've probably washed by the time he is just getting in!

I live in the states my social security is $1, 272 a month with putting $450 into savings each month that allows me to live on $822 that has to cover all my monthly expenses including house and car insurance utilities and cell phone. My actual bills are $362 which leaves me with $460 for car gas, food, any dining out I do and miscellaneous.
I was very happy to come across your channel and subscribed this week.
I quit working in May of 2020 at the age of 66 for many years even while working I would buy markdown meat and any markdown and clearance items food and non-food related. I feed four indoor cats and a few outside so I'm always looking for a deal on their food. I prefer to shop thrift stores and garage sales the only new clothing I have bought in years is the personal items I try to find household items at these places before I shop retail

Hi Ali, I have followed you since I found your blog through Frugaldom Blog! one of my best ever tips is " Don't refuse anything. " I always take what's offered then, if I can't use it I pass it on. This way, I've got paint for the house, plants and compost for the garden, tools, books, fabric, yarn. Looking forward to more video's.

I’m going on holiday/visiting family soon - 8 days in our 2-birth caravan with our two little dogs. I make up picnics, take flasks, cook evening meals from scratch, find the free car parks and I’m pretty sure we’ll enjoy ourselves. I’m going to list money spent and try to work out savings.

Brilliant tips, there are always people wanting to learn things that others have picked up and used with great success in their lives. Going right back to basics can be so helpful for the new generation of 'frugalistas'.

We must be long-lost twins, lol! I am exactly the same way! I have been frugal all my life, choosing to save instead of spend whenever possible. I will go to great lengths to even save a few dollars, because as Ben Franklin put it, "Watch your pennies, and the dollars will watch themselves!" And yet, if there is ever a loved one in need, I will gladly spend that money, which is made possible by saving<3
