Song: Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls

My edit of the Gulf War. I have a tiny personal connection to this war, as my Physics teacher who moved to Australia in the early 2000s served in the war on the USS Theodore Roosevelt, the aircraft carrier that flew more sorties than all the other carriers involved in the war combined.

Not sure what my next video will be, but I’m thinking I might try make an edit specifically for shorts and see how that goes. I hope you enjoy!

People don't realise that desert storm wasn't just an invasion, it was a show of force. The speed, efficiency and brutality with which DS was enacted scared effectively the entire world back in line for 20 years.

Good work👍. My math teacher in high school was in the 101st military intelligence battalion, 1st infantry division. Told us a lot of stories in class. Watching artillery strikes, listening into Iraqi communications, taking prisoners. Said one of his most vivid memories was watching the oil fires miles away.

Born to early to fight in the deserts of the middle east
Born to late to fight in the deserts of the middle east
Born in time to fight in the deserts of the middle east.

Iowa battleships from the 1940s, Patton tanks from the 60s and Nighthawk stealth aircraft from the 90s all in the same war - a simply incredible assembly of ass-kicking awesomeness

the shot of nighthawk at 1:04 with the riff in the background is so raw

2:28 I was a KC 135 Q boom operator at Beale. We had been flying sorties with F117A over Nevada for a while and no one knew the aircraft existed. It will always be the biggest secret I was apart of Kuwait happened and our entire squadron deployed with all F 117s and it was no longer a secret. Flew ecerynight and almost everyday = I was insanely lucky to fly with that bird, crazy stories too

I was there with the 2nd Marine Division 1st Battalion/8th Marine regiment. 81mm mortar platoon and had this tape in my Walkman as we went through the minefields, tank battles, oilwells on fire and artillery hitting around us which sitting on 1 ton of 81MM mortar rounds (300 of them) stuffed into an AMTRAC and 23 other Marines. Found an Arab cassette bootleg copy of the AC/DC live album Jailbreak Live outside of a busted up Iraqi tank near Kuwait City. Put it into my Walkman and while the sound qualify wasn't very good. I could still hear Bon Scott wailing out the songs. Ahhh the memories.

This is definitely one of the best ODS edits I've seen, there's a bunch of footage I've never seen before
