Chromebook Screen Problems - 'The No Wake From Sleep Issue'

The screen on a brand new Chromebook stays black after shutting and re-opening it. Seems like a hardware issue, but Samsung claims that "Google is working on it" because it is supposedly happening on Acer models too. Hmmm.

I left my screen open on charge for about an hour when I came back to it I had this problem but this still worked thank you! !!

Thank you for recording this solution. I've had my Acer Chromebook for 3 months and this just happened to me tonight for the first time. I pressed the off button for about 10 seconds to turn it off and that solved the blank screen issue. It started when I plugged in to recharge the battery and a very Strange pattern filled the screen then it went blank when I shut it.

I just got this problem today. Happened out of the blue! 
THIS solution helped me fix it~!  I don't know how.. but yeah, I plugged in my usb mouse.. held the power button.. then unplugged the usb mouse. and it lit up and worked! 

"OK - I'm having the same problem on and off...
Here's what fixed it for me "this" time.
I have a wireless mouse plugged in (usb), so when my screen didn't turn back on, I pressed and held the power button until the light turned off, then I unplugged the mouse's usb key and turned the chromebook back on. It did work this time (maybe it was just luck). I hope it works for you too."

Thank you for this tip. I just purchased a Chromebook a few days ago, last night it crashed and since then it was not booting up. A long press of the power button as you suggested worked for me. Thanks again.

For those still looking for a solution, this fixed it for me:
Go to Settings/Device/Power and Turn off Sleep when cover is closed.
