Alex is studying defective proteins implicated in Parkinsons Disease and Amyotropic lateral Sclerosis, a form of motor neurone disease.

Work in this lab uses NMR to study how these mutant forms fold or mis-fold and contribute to disease. This film shows the steps involved in determining the optimal recovery and expression of a mutant recombinant protein, following transformation and overnight growth in bacterial cells.
