Five months into his new role, Jaishankar delivered the 4th Ramnath Goenka Memorial Lecture in New Delhi. The Ramnath Goenka Memorial Lecture was instituted in 2016 by The Express Group to mark 25 years of the passing of its founder.

A great and erudite summary of India’s foreign policy. Agree that India and China should collaborate on climate change, total of 2.6 billion people. India should focus on the several disruptive innovations happening in renewable energy, replacement of fossil based products like plastic, non polluting innovations (e.g., textiles grown from waste milk, leather or cotton grown in labs, non toxic liquid CO2 to wash clothes, etc). Such climate change innovations will grow jobs and will help us collaborate better in tech transfer to several countries. Vasudeva Kutumbakam should be put into action. If the world is one family, then all our innovations should respect the five elements; air, water, earth, space, ether. (Now, there are companies planning to mine the moon that keeps the earth in orbit and balance). The soul of India is Santan Dharma...the deeper we go into it, the more solutions it will provide both for domestic and foreign policy

A very educative and informative speech with a lot of food for thought embedded. Feeling really great to see such people in the position of power, a very relevant person for the post indeed. Hope, the Govt. goes out of its way to get Indian economy back on its track. India needs a robust economy for the good of its masses and right now we are in a mess. A rethinking and pulling in right person to head the Ministry is the immediate need of the hour.
