From an F-16 MFD manual.
5.11.8. Beacon Bomb Delivery
The BCN radar mode is used to attack targets that are located relative to a ground-based radar beacon.
This mode is similar to the radar offset mode. The target location is based on bearing and range from the
beacon to the target and target elevation.
· Enter the following offset data before takeoff on the appropriate destination page:
· True bearing from beacon to target to the nearest 0.1º.
· Range from beacon to target in feet.
· Elevation of the target.
· Appropriate beacon delay on the FCR control page.
· FCR mode must be in BCN. The radar provides a clutter-free display on the radar display showing
only the radar beacon location and eliminating target/Aimpoint recognition tasks.
· Select A-G with the desired weapon and BCN mode selected.
· Slew the azimuth cursor to the center of the closest portion of the beacon.
· Center the FPM on the steering line and continue the delivery in the same manner as in a CCRP
attack.

Best radar video EVER! I wish all tutorial videos could be as comprehensive and clear as yours. Thank you for all your efforts!

Very helpful video, especially for the DTT bit. Minor thing (this is just long because it requires some explanation), I think that starting at 13:25 you explained the symbols wrong when the AWACs symbols went solid. You'd actually displayed a graphic earlier in the video at 10:10 that explained it correctly - the symbols go solid when your onboard radar has a TWS track that correlates to the track the AWACs has for that target. That's why the symbols went solid when you went into TWS mode at 12:52 and your radar developed its own track on them, and that's why they stopped updating when you switched back to RWS mode because your radar was no longer using its own track. You said that the far contact didn't go solid because it didn't get an "enemy" response from IFF - it was actually because your radar never picked up that contact while it was in TWS mode, probably because it was only in TWS for a few seconds between 12:52 and 12:54 and didn't scan that section of the airspace during that time, so it never developed its own track on it. In reality, most of the time you won't get any response at all from a non-friendly after an IFF interrogation - the other red contacts you had also didn't respond earlier in the video when you did an IFF scan, or the LOS IFF scan you did later. Most of the time in multiplayer you either have to visually identify targets that don't respond to IFF or if you're less careful you just fire on whatever isn't green after your AWACs is down because a white target means it didn't respond, which could be either an enemy or a friendly with his IFF transponder turned off.

I watched a handful of other people's videos, but this is the only video that I was able to successfully use to learn this system. Thank you so much!

Just got the Viper for DCS. Having grown up on Spectrum Holobyte's Falcon, I'm truly looking forward to driving the Viper again. Thank you for the refresher on the A/A radar modes currently presented in DCS for the Viper. The AN/APG-68 V(5) operates a tad differently than the older version of the APG-68 in Falcon, but the concepts are all the same.

Video idea: Can you dodge an LGB? It would be interesting to see you guys attempt to evade a (probably small) laser guided bomb in a ground vehicle through combined arms.

Thank you! Had the 16 for a few months and have slowly been piecing everything together in my free time. I can finally fly in multiplayer servers and not be reliant on my friends to hold my hand.

To fire a missile in the F-16, even an A/A missile, you push the red weapon release button on top of the stick. _Unlike_ in the F/A-18 Hornet, that is...

Thanks for this Cap. I've been watching your streams for a while and have enjoyed them all. When I was in Jr. High I played Falcon every day (and every update to it). I also worked for a time for the Navy and suffice it to say I have over 4000hrs of flight time in US military aircraft (all I can say). It's been a long time since I've seen the cockpit of an F-16 not to mention anything else and I have to re-learn some things and this really takes me back to those first days back in the day.

Since I just finally got the time to try DCS (After Falcon, it was Comanche and I spent years with Harpoon and then CAMO playing and creating missions) and I like DCS (though it still needs work). I purchased several mods and maps (wish I had more - including those from Grim reapers) including the F-16C Viper (F-16 - still my fav aircraft of all time) and this video has helped a lot with the new FCR.

Now I need some WINWING gear to go with it as things are SOOOO much easier when you have actual cockpit controls - but it is Christmas soon so...

Aspect 16L is not 16° Left, it's 160° Left. Remember the USAF uses AA, Aspect Angle, from the fighter bearing line to the targets tail (so a nose-to-nose is a 180° Aspect, thus the calling "High Aspect BFM), while Navy uses TA, Target Aspect, from the fighter bearing line to the targets nose (so a nose-to-nose is a 0° Aspect).

Excellent comprehensive video. After a bunch of updates and some time off from the jet, it's nice to have this. Two requests: can you do a similar revisit of the TPOD for the f16 and similar updated FCR and TPOD vids for the f18? I know that's a lot. Thanks Cap!

Using the radar is like playing a mini game itself.
