Making the business case for investment in people

In this video we argue that all benefits of staff development revolve around achieving competitive advantage for the firm. We illustrate the link between people and the technology that they use, and hence discuss how managers should determine where to invest - in people or technology.

Importantly, we show that your attitude to development will depend on your corporate strategy.

We show that the simplest model that can be used to argue in favour of a particular development or training is the profit and loss account. This allows the state with and without the development to be compared.
