The line " her character is her shield which cover her " is powerful 🔥

I usually cover my head to protect my head from the hot sun or from the rain 😂

The North literally defended us South Indians with everything they’ve got. We should all be more grateful, appreciative and respectful towards the northerners, and vice versa too. 🙏🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Our North Indian sisters and brothers have endured a lot ❤️✊🏾🫡

"Neither house, nor clothes, nor compound wall, nor doors, nor any type of Royal honours cover a woman. Her character is her shield which protects her." Amazing words 😊😌

South Indians should have some sympathy for north indians for the uncountable and unimaginable tragedies which happened instead of just blaming, downplaying, the north indians for backwardness and poverty, its bcz of north indians that the invaders weren't completely able to focus on south india and thats why the dharma and culture was safe in South India.

edit1: Convinced more than 10, 000 people with my thought

Exactly..I am from Uttarakhand and here no women cover their head as done in up, bihar or Rajasthan or other northen states... During wedding or even in normal day, I have neither seen my grandmother or other women duing Duppata ..I think the main reason is that in uttrakhand there is no or minimal invasion here because horses and the Islamic ruler didn't prefer to go up there due to harsh terrain and climate.
Hence, real culture of India is preserved there where no women is hidden behind gunghat .

Covering head is related directly to Mughal invasion.

In Northern Part of India we have extreme weather conditions whether it is winter or summer we need to cover our head and ears in order to protect ourselves from scorching heat and the hot winds and during winters we we cover our head and ears to protect themselves from cold winds irrespective of the gender and yes women have started covering their faces after Islamic invasions but head covering is a necessity due to the extreme weather conditions

See the women depicted in our ancient Ramayana Mahabharata. Even the noble women wore sleevless blouses and no covering of heads.

Same in Assam, no women here cover their head except only during Puja or Funerals

I am also from Uttarakhand (garhwal region) and even here i have noticed there is no veiling pratha. There is of course a distinct head gear, part of the traditional dress both for men and women but again it is not compulsory to wear for either of them. One of the reasons i believe is that mughals could not occupy this area, because of the great leadership of our queen RANI KARNAWATI.
In the legends she is also called the nak-kati rani cause when a mughal army tried to attack her kingdom. She surrounded them from all four sides and gave them the option to either cut their noses or die.
The mughals were too traumatized to come here ever again

South was always shielded by the kingdoms of north so a lot of traditional Indian culture is preserved there but things in north changed with the invasions

With due respect Keerthi, partially you might be correct, but this practice of women covering their head is part of showing the respect to elders and God, also, men cover their head too while performing pooja or rituals.

I'm an Indian from south india

A plausible answer for this is

Since north india has been under the rule of the Mlechchas for centuries the custom of covering the head has been adopted by Hindus too.
