Cephalosporin generations and pharmacology made easy with this simple 2 minute mnemonic! Great for nursing, medical students, USMLE, and healthcare professionals!

Cephalosporins, a type of antibiotic, can be divided into 5 generations. Common cephalosporins include cephalexin, ceftriaxone, cefazolin, cefepime, and cefdinir.

It can be challenging to remember which generation each cephalosporin falls under. Fortunately, this video shows you a simple trick to help you out!

Although the pharmacology is overall similar among the different cephalosporin generations, they differ in coverage for gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Some also cover for pseudomonas.
