You pronounced “tortillians” pretty well. Your boys may have discovered by now they are used to blend the graphite/color from pencils to create smudges of different varieties for shading and especially dimensional-ising the flat pencil drawing.

I had forgotten to keep up with your podcast! I am just now listening to the one about Family Worship. I appreciate you both being so honest & that you both want to put the Lord first in your lives & family.

I love Stellaluna!! I'd never heard of it until I was babysitting and read it to the little boy. I think I loved it more than he did.

Great book haul! I am from Florida ( Gulf Coast side) and sometimes I shop for our books at Once Upon a Child or the Goodwill Bookstores ( we have a few Bookstore only lotions, they are North of me about 30-35 minutes away and the other is North 45 minutes so I start at the further one and work my way back home, and then stop in OUAC lol. The regular Goodwill locations, I shop do not sell books :( and I am happy to say I have purchased various parts of my Secular homeschool curriculum for my grandson, he just finished Kindergarten Virtually 6 full time classes umbrellaed under FLVS Flex Homeschool in mid April of the 2021-22 school year.

I love Eric Carle’s books. You guys have got to do Eric Carle inspired art. It is so much fun.

I know what kindergarten curriculum you're using based on those books. 😉 We have used it and it's a lot of fun. Hope you have a great year!

Awesome book haul, so speedy yet informative! I’ll be saving this for when we do American History in two years :)
My favorite book I recently picked up from Thriftbooks is “Teach Them To Your Children” - a sweet book of short stories about Christian character in children. My kids beg me to read it every day at lunch so I thought I’d share 😊

Another great book haul, thank you for sharing! I missed the sale on Christian Focus, just ordered the other day. We got The Golden Chariot (stories by missionary kids), Patti & the Weegors (Uighurs), True to her Faith (about Huguenots) etc... They also have the Hidden Heroes series which has a great focus on what happened on the mission field & stories of the local converts rather than the missionaries. My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed it (although it's geared for kids), I'm pretty sure our eldest will enjoy it too next school year. Blessings!

I've been wanting to speak on this for a while now. See yall make homeschooling way too complicated for yall children. Yall use too many books and things. We just make it simple. How do you make time for yourself each day with multiple children? We do a student-led curriculum, read out loud with our children, which they will read a page and we will read as well in different subjects topics that will benefit them in the real world that they will actually use. Also, we read about History but don't make American History the only History we read. Our children read on their own as well. We just keep it simple to save time in a day for ourselves and for our children just to be children. We do Math first at 7:00 am and Language Arts last at 10:00 am. Then the day is over at 11:00 am. We don't bring the way public schools educate into our homeschool. We don't even have a homeschool room or buy so much curriculum that doesn't work. We do a mastery-based curriculum for all subjects like Math and Language Arts. We don't have too many manipulatives either for Math. It is the way to go. Children usually don't want their parents doing all the teaching for them. We have researched for a while and the homeschooling community is making it seem extremely hard and stressful for new homeschooling families to want to homeschool. Especially with all these curricula. There's so much to choose from. The reviews are mostly reviews from parents' perspectives and not a child's. Choose a curriculum that your children would enjoy learning from and not you as their parents so swear from. You may love the curriculum, but yall children may be giving yall a hard time because they don't want yall as the parents being the full-blown-out teacher. Don't force your ways of learning on yall children. Let learning come naturally. I rest my case.
