Fix “You Don’t Currently Have Permission to Access This Folder” Windows 11.

If you have recently upgraded your Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 11, then you may receive this error message “You don’t currently have permission to access this folder.” trying to access folders on your computer. Don’t worry, follow these solutions and the problem will go away just in no time.

Issues addressed in this tutorial:
you don't currently have permission to access this folder
you don't currently have permission to access this folder windows 11
you don't currently have permission to access this folder external hard drive
you don't currently have permission to access this folder hard disk
you don't currently have permission to access this folder USB
you don't currently have permission to access this folder USB drive

The error "You do not currently have permission to access this file/folder", usually appears on disks or folders, that were previously shared on the network with different rights. In other cases, the problem is caused by the HP Client Security Manager program that prevents the access to a connected external USB storage device.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 11, Windows 11, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems. Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Huawei Samsung).

Even the "add" button is greyed out for me, so I can't change the permissions this way :-(

Why are you replying to people who it worked for but not people who still can't access anything like when hitting add it's grayed out. If your going to make a video on something at least help the people who are still having problems.

Having this issue with the assigned Google Drive folder (My Drive) was far more complex and tough to find help. After the first setup of Google Drive would not allow me to copy any local files to the folder. And there is no "Security" tab for this special Goole Drive folder, only "Sharing". The trick is to extend the context menu to the full "Show More Options" menu. From there find the menu for "Offline access" with the gold, green, blue Google Drive icon next to it. Turn on "Available offline" instead of "Online only". Now it allows one to copy files to that folder. This was not obvious and driving me nuts.

An error occurred while applying security information to:

Folder Name (This is a folder full of photos on a external hard drive)

Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied.

Thanks. I did what you did on the video, but when I clicked OK, I got the following error "Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access denied" I got this for each subfolder within the main folder. I tried Giving permission for each of the subfolders, but the options are greyed out. Any ideas please?

I am facing an issue in Windows 11 wherein I am able to access external drive in safe mode but not in normal mode. Also, I am unable to change security settings in normal mode. The message is being displayed as 'You don't have permission to change the settings' even when I am logged in as administrator.

That would be great except this is a sd card in a built in sd reader. had an issue with etcher trying to put an image on there. had to use diskpart to actually remove and replace the partition on it. not my system reads it but I get the issue you have shown here but when I bring up the properties there is no "security" tab to be able to use this fix.
