Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White tells CNA Lifestyle how he turned down Michelin’s invitation for his new restaurant, The English House, to be included in the Michelin Guide.
White’s first establishment in Asia is housed in adjoining 19th century shophouses along Singapore’s Mohamed Sultan Road, which were painstakingly restored over three years. The property is inspired by colonial Singapore and houses stately dining rooms.

Nice decoration, tasteful and a wonderful combination of Eastern and Western styles. It is a slight shame that the host talked in a sterotypical and silly manner when she asked Marco "how did you acquire this?" and he replied "...I buy them". I love his honesty and courage when he explained that he did not give a damn about the opinions of Michelin Guide food inspectors who think that they have the last word to how good food should taste everywhere in the world.

The first experience of fine dining was at The Canteen in Chelsea harbour in the 90s, Marco was the chief, that experience opened me up to a whole new world.
