I once again repeat: I 100% trust the equipment. What I don’t trust is my tiny brain that starts freaking the heck out if lifted a meter of the ground to make good placements, especially if it is high up, in situations where it is arguably the most important. But despite that I am absolutely amazed by how brave climbers are, and I love watching this even more knowing I could never manage it myself. This is awsome.

Over the last 46 years, climbing equipment has saved so many of my rock and ice climbing falls I’ll never know the number. Inspection of that gear and retiring gear is critical to maintain some semblance of the expected performance. Never ever buy used gear or trust someone’s gear unless you know them extremely well. This gear has even withstood the power of an avalanche, the resulting fall from both of us and extreme forces placed on our entire system. Yes, I trust climbing gear.

Honestly if it didn’t hold me up I wouldn’t blame the equipment I would blame myself since I didn’t place it right it’s made to do its job.

Yes. I trust trad gear. I have fallen probably 100 times on trad gear, and it's never failed. If a piece was a bit untrustworthy, I would often back it up with a 2nd piece.

Being new to trad and even sport. I feel like I don’t trust myself way more than the equipment. Because we see all the time it passes the test! 😂
