Caught many sockeye when I lived in Alaska rivers in the ‘80’s flys. They were considered the best eating of all the salmon and good fighters. They always ran close to the bank so I was able to use a fly rod which increased the fun. Never caught them from a boat. Only caught Kings and Halibut from a boat. Living in S. Oregon now and fishing the Rogue but would love to come up N. to the
