And be sure to hang on to that used Métro ticket in case controllers are outside the station checking tickets. I also did those steps at Abbesses and didn't know about the elevator then either. Thought I'd never get out and was exhausted. That being said, now I'm glad I did it once.

Nice tips and mostly right on. My wife and I went in September, but we planned the trip for months beforehand. My biggest tip is to make a few plans, do your research. We had one big thing each day, and we left time for discovery and just hanging out. We really loved the Eiffel Tower. We walked up to the second level, sat up there for a good while, then came down. Regarding the Louvre, do your research and make a reasonable plan. Ours was to spend about three hours there, and yes, we got a timed entry at 5 pm on a Friday so it would be a little less crowded (great tip). Also, be sure you have comfortable walking shoes. You'll be walking a lot and you'll be up and down about a million stairs. But you'll love every minute if you do your research and plan ahead. Get dinner reservations for your first night (for sure) and about half the other nights. Leave the other half of the nights to fill in after you get there.

I would advise taking your main meal at midday as there are better deals and try a local 'bouillon' or workers cafe such as Bouillon Chartier of which there are three you can get three courses for under 20euro

I would add to the list Musée Carnavalet (Marais, beautiful old palace) and Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (Palais de Tokyo). Both are free, no crowd and worth a visit.

Very informative. I just wish you gave the various arrondissement for all the places you mentioned.
I stayed in the 7th arrondissement in June and was lucky enough that there was a perfect restaurant right on the corner and several bakeries and supermarkets. close.

Like all overly touristic places worldwide Paris is a scammer's paradise. That infortunately includes many restaurants that serve pre-prepared industrial, low quality dishes and sell them (sometimes dearly) as home-made French cuisine, thus the disappointment of those customers who are able to recognize good food. I suggest you check on line before eating out in Paris; I would generally avoid all "eateries" around" touristic spots.

Bonjour! Do you have any ideas for visiting with a 17 year old young man? Best area to stay where he can safely wonder a bit on his own. Areas where he might connect informally with other young people arriving first week of June. Merci.

Careful for ‘con’ artists at Montmartre who will draw a picture of you from a distance, then try to collect $$ from you. Worst experience ever.

Thanks Camden for this refreshing video, from someone who's lived here for some three decades--I had to look up those eating places (would add Baguett. in the first, new, innovative). On Palais Royal gardens (my neighbourhood), being tucked away makes them not that touristy, though this is changing thanks to a certain Emily. On the Eiffel Tower, for folk wishing to go up, try the stairs! These go to the first and second levels, are surprisingly fast, not that steep, cheaper, with great views. As for the district you dare not pronounce, I think you mean Mouzaïa (moo-za-ya), noted for its villas, lanes and gardens; good tip, and there are similar hidden districts to be discovered in this dense city eg Montsouris Square, Floral City...Enjoy.
