Oh man, I wish my workshop wasn't already so damn packed, I'd already be making this thing! So many features I'd love to have access to. Some day...

This guy is a serious innovator. I am also between jobs right now, but when I do get a job I’d love to see this made into some sort of one shop kit.

So excited to see where this project goes!!

Super excited about this. I have some fantastic vintage lapidary tools which I refurbished & they'll now outlive me, and being able to construct some of the finer control tools I'd use a fair bit will let me add more flexibility to my bench more quickly. Also, VERY happy you're well. I didn't see if you've posted any messages during this time you've been designing/iterating, so over the past couple of months I've definitely thought, "hmm, I hope Sweetgum is just busy, and not being held in a black site somewhere for that "let's print a war machine for freedom!" video!" 😂

New sub here. Just found the channel, like what you're doing here! I have a sort of hobby machine/prototype shop, some big toys and some small, I think you're on to something here as this machine does fill a lot of gaps. That's especially true for people just getting started who don't own a lathe or mill or whatever yet. I don't think dremel is a fair comparison for the same reasons you mentioned, and you're definitely going to learn some things building this that you just never would playing with a dremel.

Sent the donation and an email. Looking forward to getting the files and info. Can't wait to build one of these.

Have you considered filling some parts of the machine with e.g. concrete to make it heavier?

This is amazing! Keep up the awesome work! I just bought a printer and i cant wait to start printing this out! I just commented on the last video but here we are! This is a game changer for me, as the space available to me is so small, buying multiple would make it so i cant park in my v small apartment garage. Thank you!

To make it more stable, you could make a hollow attachment base that's filled with cement!

Just found your channel and this is an awesome project! I also found someone else making a small 3d printed lathe and other tools, and he filled his 3d prints with concrete or cement. You could maybe look into that, the significantly increased weight might increase the stability even more, or even remove the need for clamps.

I'm so excited for the lathe build! I have multiple projects that really require a small wood working lathe

There is an old machine called the Hommel UWG („Universelles Werkstatt Gerät“ // „Universal Workshop Tool“)
It’s a universal machining tool which is very versatile and which could give you some inspiration for your machine.

Really nice progress so far. Keep up the good work. :)
