VIDEO INTRODUCTION:
As of 2019, the state had the fifth-smallest GDP among Indian states, although it is also among the fastest-growing. Sikkim achieved its ambition to convert its agriculture to fully organic between 2003 and 2016, and became the first state in India to achieve this distinction. Let us understand how?

I am from Kerala. Here the ministers and beaurocrats often visit foreign countries to study about farming. I would suggest them to visit Sikkim at least once, study and adopt their organic farming methods. Kudos to Sikkim govt and people 👍

Being a citizen residing in the State of Sikkim this video makes me so proud.
Our state might be small, remotely located with difficult topography but it is also one of the most beautiful Himalayan state with a rich culture and heritage.
I believe Tourism and Organic farming are the financial pillars of our state. The great initiatives by State Govt and complete Income Tax exemption are also the reason why we are successful today. A peaceful environment with no strikes/bandhs should also be addressed.
I invite everyone to visit Sikkim once to experience it's prestine beauty and the warm hospitality of Sikkimese people.

I have been living in sikkim since 2010 and my father works in Indian council of agricultural research and I have personally seen the transition from conventional to organic

Indian and sikkim government really put in a lot of hard work to boost organic farming
They literally distributed free seeds to farmer to encourage them to start organic

Really feeling good that sikkim is getting some recognition that it deserve ❤

I am from Sikkim and also work in the Government. The GDP of our state is high not because of Organic products (which is of course a great thing) but because of Pharmaceutical Companies and Hydropower Projects and also the high amount of money pumped by the Central Government as it is a boarder state bordering 3 different countries.

Nonetheless, Sikkim is an interesting case study for Economists, thank you so much for your video 🙏🏻

From Canada here. This is how a government should operate - truly support their people while ensuring long term success of your people and economy and not just their term. What an inspirational story I didnt even know about this state and would probably never have researched it but because ThinkSchool made it, I watched it

I am staying in Sikkim for last 13 years. I have also stayed in Tripura, Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal etc. One thing I can tell with certainty. Development of a geographic and political province/state is directly proportional to... 1. Quality of general population. 2. Vision of top leadership specifically the CM/PM. In Sikkim, tens of thousands of costly vehicle kept outside without any safety measures where as in Tripura it's almost impossible to keep any fruit hanging on trees even within one's house. Such is the difference. There are factories in Sikkim built on 60-70 degree slope. The organic produce looks extremely fresh and different.

As a student of agriculture from Maharashtra we are continuously observing the harmful effects of conventional farming on agricultural land and produce. It is really hard to convince farmers on this complicated issues related to growing use of chemicals. But this case study made us understand that this is possible in our state too. Thank you @think school for this case study.

India is on fire, I guess more than 80% of states are growing at a rapid pace. For the first time in decades people are thinking about growing more than other things.
