10 Major Changes The MCU Made From Marvel Comics

As far as most of us know, the movies are a one-to-one remake of the comics. But not so! If you’re a movie buff like me, but not a comic buff, then this list is for you. We go through the biggest changes that Marvel made between the comics and the MCU. Even the original Avengers weren’t the same!

Tony Stark seems like he’s got it all together, mostly… but in the comics, he’s also an alcoholic! And Thanos’ reason for destroying half of the life in the universe is WAY different in the comics. In the comics, he actually falls in love with death! Because honestly, who could love a face like Thanos in the comics, but death. We all know The Mandarin was kind of stereotypical, but did you know in the comics, he wasn’t Shang Chi’s father at all? It was a WAY more stereotypical character named Fu Manchu aka Zheng Zu. And one of my personal favorite plot lines was Star Lord’s father, Ego, being a living planet, a celestial. But in the comics, Star Lord’s father was just a regular human man! Ego was an entirely different character called Ego the Living Planet.

And some characters were tweaked because of the actors playing them. Like Thor is not the quippy, fun-loving, Jock with a Heart of Gold that we know in the movies. He’s a serious man with literal god-like power, more akin to Captain Marvel.

What i love about this vulture is that hey actually gave him a meaning to his name that made sense i mean he steals scraped metal and stuff from the avengers battle just like vultures feast uppon rotten meat!

Feel free to disagree with me on this, but I think that hank and janet should have been founding members of the avengers in the mcu. I mean you can keep black widow and hawkeye, but it kinda bothers me that they aren't because they are in the comics. And hank was the one who created ultron, not tony.

Growing up I never liked Vulture, never wanted to see him in live action so when Marvel announced that he would be the main antagonist for the MCU Spider-Man I was not happy at all. But then Marvel pulled it off and actually made me like his character.

Nothing about how Wanda and Quicksilver were the children of Magneto, and mutants, or the complete change to Visions origin, also that Ultron was created by Hank Pym. They also completely rewrote Baron Zemo's and Falcon's backgrounds, and Falcon's bird companion and power to talk to birds. How about that Bucky was a teenager when he was Caps side kick in the 1940's, or that Claw was turned into a being made of sound and was pretty powerful, or that M'Baka was far more of an enemy to the Black Panther than shown in the movie, and wore an armored battle suit that made him look like a giant white gorilla. He even called himself Man -Ape. There is a lot more changes than mentioned in this video.

Wolverine in the comics is 5'3, and Marvel did make Huge Jackman shorter like they did with the hobbits in Lord of the Rings, but it tested poorly with females who don't read the comics, so they had Hugh Jackman play the character as his height of 6'2 instead.

Sorry, kinda disagree about MJ. In Homecoming you get MJ's full name and it was not Mary Jane Watson. She is filling the role of Mary Jane, but she IS NOT that character, and post No Way Home films will probably address that.
