Communities across the US are now threatened by rising sea-levels. With global warming refuted and opposed by the Trump administration, will climate change create another major refugee crisis?

"After the storm, we adopted this mindset of ‘never again.’ We’re going to do everything we can to mitigate our risk", explains Dina Long, Sea Bright's mayor. Raising bulkheads, home elevation and reinforcing the town's sea wall are all methods used to protect properties, but not all residents are convinced these projects are worthwhile - with the taxpayer shouldering the 35 million dollar expense. With storms increasing in frequency and intensity, this low-lying town will face further destruction. "Sea Bright is really in the cross-hairs of the sea level rise dilemma. It will be severely impacted by sea level rise", says Steve Nelson, a recovery planning manager. He argues that residents must consider re-locating. "It's a very hard thing for me to say to someone you shouldn't live here anymore".

No, because common sense tells you if you are in a flood or land slide type of area known for those issues, you should not get a single dollar for living in a risky known area. If you cannot afford to move, oh well, your loss... people with brains should not have to pay for people who do not use their brains.

The US always helps people In need. That's why we are the greatest nation on the face of the earth. So basically If you ever become In need for whatever reason you can always count on getting It. For people who don't think that these people are In need of help for any reason can go live In Russia, or China, and see what kind of help they will get there. We are one nation under GOD, AND I'm GLAD THAT I LIVE In theUSA, GOD BLESS

No, it's the states problem. If they want to cut taxes to the point where they have no money its on them. It's also on insurance companies to be more efficient. They get paid every month, so they need to pay out quicker.

In Australia we all have to pay a tax called the 'Emergency Services Levy' 😐 I'm not even confident it goes to that to be honest.

Count yourselves lucky, we get taxed ridiculous amounts on everything here haha.

No we should not. These places need insurance, planning or better luck. Not my money.
