If someone gets sent to tax court for a prior return should the taxpayer file their amended return for that year before going to tax court? Self-employed and forgot to file 1099 for independent contractors paid, and now is facing tax court.

Hi I have received the 90-day notice of deficiency on unintentional missing item and have submitted copies of later-filed amended tax return that included the missing item. I do not think they reviewed the amended tax return and keep sending the notice and do not respond to my appeal. Now I have no choice but filing at US Tax Court that is coming fast. Can we talk for a minute on the phone?

Why do you not recommend not to sign the NOD? If someone does not sign it what will happen?

I just received my NOD and they changed stuff on my tax return and I have submitted all requested information but seems like they have made a decision without all paperwork, what steps should I take?

I just received NOD, is this something I needed to sign and also have if I sign it does that mean IRS can still add more interest to it? And what if I agree and want to make payment, will I be paying all the amount on the NOD? Please, I need your response on how to respond to this. Thank you sir.

Question! I received the notice of deficiency letter in August and my 90 days was up on November 28th 2022. Now, I never replied to anything they sent me. I agree with the amount I owe so I'm just waiting for a bill. My 2 questions are, how long does it take for them to send a bill? And will they take my tax refund this year if I haven't gotten a bill yet? I owe them a little over 3000. So I'm curious how long it takes to get a bill from them and if they'll take my tax refund from me. I'd really appreciate any advice!!

I received a deficiency letter from an audit due to an accidental typo on SS#. I've gone through the Tax Advocate service without much help. Right now, they need proof of child residency for my pre-K kids. Due to the pandemic for the tax year 2020, we don't have official letterheads with our children's names. What advice do you have? IRS has been terribly hard to contact, and they withheld my 2021 taxes due to 2020 issues. The last day to appeal is 09-12-22

What if you had someone else prepare the taxes for you and then you get this 90 day letter?

I received a Notice of Deficiency letter for 2018 because the IRS missed a notation on my SSA 1099 regarding my retroactive disability award regarding the award applying to prior years. I repaid the wages I earned from prior years after receiving the SS award. I provided the evidence to the appeals attorney that proved my position was correct yet they assigned me a court date anyway for 12.5.22. Is it possible they will want to settle before trial? I contacted the appeals attorney a month ago but haven't received a reply. Are they really that busy?
