Where is Mullvad ? Honestly I trust much more a company which allows to pay using cash or crypto and which doesn't require any personnal information (and which, of course, is audited and uses open source tech) than all the ones listed in this video

Thanks for the video. I currently use Surfshark, but also gave Proton a try b/c you mentioned that you didn't notice a hit to your speeds. My download speeds took a marginal hit, but my upload speeds went from 940 mbps to only 8 mbps.

I get that you're in North America and technically your governments aren't allowing people to recommend or even comment on Kaspersky but for me that's the only VPN that I'll ever go with. Their virtual tunnel is limited at 100 megabits per second but they have a dedicated trunk for torrenting too.

Back in the day when you were on TekThing with Patrick Norton, I chimed in about VPNs and asked you for your recommendation. You told me at the time that you were using Private Internet Access. I have been using that ever since. My current subscription ends in April 2024. I see no problem with PIA and it does what I need. I leave it on my phone 24/7 and on my PC I only use it to download torrents. When my current subscription is up, should I change VPN services or stay with PIA?

SurfShark is now owned by the Nord company. The same as NordVPN. But right now they are running as separate VPNs.

Hi ya! I've used several VPNs over the years and I'm currently on Surf Shark. I agree with your assessment of their product and will probably continue it once my current deal runs out.

I have my own VPN too but only use it in certain circumstances. My ability to encrypt my data is key but also keeping my static IPs from being listed as a target of interest is also important. I think that's the main problem with running your own VPN.

Have fun in Japan! ...but don't use your VPN (cell phone) while on a train, it's considered rude there.

Another option is to purchase a router with a built in VPN like the Synology brand. Just enable it from a webpage. No need to download any client software for IOS or Mac.

Honestly, I love mullvad vpn, cheap easy and no need for any account information. You can even pay in cash if you want

I have a Firewalla Purple. It has the ability to setup your own VPN. So when away from your home you can connect to it and use your home IP. Unfortunately it needs a dedicated IP address which costs $10/month. So I haven't been able to test. But as everything else works flawlessly I think it would work. As I already have Surfshark for about 2 more years for $2/month...
