Not my heroes, brother, and not the heroes of anyone I know. I knew this was part of our history but I had no idea of the scope of the slaughter! Thank you for posting this and much, much respect to the Native American people!❤

I heard this story when I was a young girl back in the 1970's but didn't know the people involved. My Mom's bf was a California native and told my Mom about this. Thanks for sharing this part of history that they don't want to talk about.

As a half native and white American i don't condemn or blame anyone today for the actions of others, or hate my heritage from both sides of my family. I embrace it. I have a rich heritage of both first nation and the British Empire.

Growing up, my dad educated us on how badly the natives were treated. Walked some of the trail of tears. Went to the “unto these hills” performance, and watched historical documentaries on tv regularly. We learned a little in school but nothing like dad would show us. The old man was always saddened how the Indians were treated and grateful for the beautiful country they sacrificed. And we’re white.

The very sad truth of how the Native American Indians were treated and slaughtered. I fully regret that this tragedy happened. It can't be reversed but, we can honor these Native Americans and treat them with dignity today.

It amazes me that the government will cover up things they don't want us to know and the American people say nothing.

I dont think most people these days would call any if these men “heroes”. I have never even heard of them so they aren’t that well known. Certainly not heroes today. The sad history of these slaughters is not well known so it is good that you put out this video. There is just no where near enough attention given to Native history, its ramifications and making it better.

It's so sad to know that California has this in its history but no school ever teaches this to its own students. So sad peace to our native friends

Not my heroes!! Never!! I'm part Cherokee on my dad's side of the family, the mistreatment of black and native American people in this country is sickening and criminal!

The fact that I am 30 something years old and just learning of these monsters is disgusting and wrong. We need to teach our children who the REAL heroes were. Our fellow Natives.

I read a book when I was a teenager that a Native American wrote of his childhood before they took their lands, and their lifestyle was amazing being free to play, learning to survive with their buddies with no stress.

When the quote "civilized" refers to others as savages, when in fact they were the savages. You see this all throughout history.

This is why history is important and should be thought

I have to say, I grew up in Oklahoma. I took an Indian history class in high school. And I have to give my teacher, Mr. Noel R. Crowson, credit. He did an awesome job teaching about the everyday life of Indians as well as the injustices they endured. I know some of these things from his class but you give much more detail.

This hurts my even hurts my heart more that my father always told me so proudly that I (a white american girl) had a great great grandmother who was a choctaw chieftain's daughter... And I never knew the weight of this history....these are not MY american heroes. Long live the Native peoples of this land in our hearts. I pray that one day the Natives will come out of the reservations and liberate themselves truly from this ancestral suffering. Stand and teach us how to never perpetrate this horror again.
I honor the Native peoples in my heart. May Yahuah bless you and may His face shine upon you, may His peace be ever upon you.
Thank you for teaching us.
