Turkey using hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19

A health official claims Turkey has had success using the controversial drug touted by President Trump on all hospitalized COVID-19 patients. CBS News' Pinar Sevinclidir has the story from Istanbul.

Aside from your political fights, I live in Turkey, and we actually see the results in our hospitals, hospitals are not overloaded, intensive care units are not full.when we apply Hydroxychloroquine early on patients, we see that hospitilazatin rate and duration of illness dropped, Turkey made almost half of the tests US did per ratio of citizens, (that means we catch less patient) our death rate is almost half of US...



Lets say for simplicity US has population of 300m where Turkey has 80m


US made 19k tests per 1 mil population  Turkey did 12k for 1mil population.


US has 3, 3 k patients per 1 mil population  Turkey has 1, 4k for 1mil population.


US has 193 deaths per 1 mil population Turkey has 38 deaths per 1 mil population.


And keep in mind that we are not rich as US so we couldn't impose a full lock down like you guys did, our test number ratio is also less then you, so probably we have a larger number of cases that are undetected, but our death rate is lower, so probably malaria drug actually worked, but keep in mind Turkey ls using it at first dedection of disese we don't wait until patient show symptoms, i  mean  before case is hospitalized..

find it right or not, Turkey's mortality rate is 2.60%. The number of deaths in the first 4 months of 2019 is 160888, and in the first 4 months of 2020 it is 163191. the difference is 2303. Every thing is clear. haters gonna hate. best wishes from turkey.

The statement of the drug is prescribed to everyone is wrong. There are certain criteria like age, chronic illnesses and blood work results to decide whether the drug can be prescribed. They are stated in the treatment guideline of the government.
