Pre Med and Pre PA Advice | Q&A with High School Students

Hi future Physician Assistants! ⚕️

A high school student reached out to me regarding a website she is putting together to shed light on various healthcare professions in the medical field. She sent me a list of questions that she received from pre pa and pre med students, interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. In this week’s video, I provide my tips for students interested in going to pa school or medical school. Topics I discussed include how to manage stress and time, ethics in medicine, common problems with our current healthcare system, being a woman in medicine, maintaining a social life in undergrad, and more! I hope this helps those of you interested in pursuing a career as a PA or MD/DO gain new perspective on how to succeed as a student, and how to enjoy the process of pursuing medical school or PA school. I love your videos! I’m a freshman in college and an aspiring PA. I was wondering how you managed to get PCE and HCE hours for the application. Did you ever take a gap year(s) between graduating as an undergraduate and applying to PA to obtain hours?

I am nervous that I will not be able to get all the hours I want before I apply to PA the summer before my senior year and I want to be a competitive applicant in order to be accepted right out of my undergraduate program. Do you have any tips?
