Fanari Ikaria Greece
On the eastern tip of Ikaria is the village of Fanari or Faros, surrounded by vineyards. There is a two mile long beach, crystal clear sea, and a great spot for scuba diving or snorkeling. In Faros, there is no seaside road. Instead, pedestrians pass through the yards of the houses and tavernas/cafes which are built on the waterfront. Further east, beyond the ruins of Drakano, are the impressive coves and Agios Giorgis beach. The sandy beach sits in a cove below the church and the recently restored Drakano Tower.
