Trackmania Nations ESWC is a racing game where speedrunners compete to set the best records. With a high level of competition, it's not often that records will stand for more than a year. But on E-4, the world record has stood for 14 years without being beaten by anyone... until now.

In this video we dive into the history of E-4, to see why the world record stood for such a long time, and how players were finally able to break it.

Viktor
- just wants to get on the roof of the stadium
- gets the world record
- ends up revolutionizing the game (bug finish)
- no one could do what he did for 14 years
- leaves

Imagine setting a record in your 20s and coming back in your late 30s to hear that some world record you accidentally set in that “Trackmania” game you used to play was just now broken.

I like how Wirt nonchalantly told us how he was the first person in 12 years to ever successfully do the shortcut and the first ever to do it intentionally

Viktor in 2020: Hmm, maybe I could get to the stadium roof this time.

The irony of Victor trying to get to the top of the stadium and getting a world record... and for the next 14 years everyone trying to get a world record and getting on top of the stadium can not be understated

Viktor: I want to get to rooftop

Imagine if Victor just were quick enough to click reset after noticing he wouldn't reach the roof because he hit a pipe

Haha my god I love this story victor is an absolute hero "I don't know what happened but I'm VERY happy" other people tryharding the shit out of the track

Everyone focused to hit the pipe but why they didn't focus the stadium top? They would've beaten the WR quicker.

After 14 years Viktor still holds the second world record without even trying a single time.

"There is an art to flying, or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. ... Clearly, it is this second part, the missing, that presents the difficulties." - Hitchikers guide to the galaxy.
Viktor invented the art of the World Record on this map. It is throw yourself at the stadium roof - and miss.

Going back to this video, it's like coming back home. Because this was my first Wirtual video I ever watched. It was literally on a whim, and now I'm subbed and have been for quite a while now. Wirtual is like the perfect sports history documentarian/narrator.

9:50 "over 200 hours of playtime"

This is why I find speedrunning so fascinating but could never do it myself. I don't think I've played 200 hours in any game total, much less spending that much time just to try to grind a single track. Props to people who do it.
