Ever since 2008, Trackmania speedrunners have gone to great lengths to optimize the world records in the game. But somehow, despite their efforts, an unbelievable "obvious" shortcut went undiscovered, hidden in plain sight for 13 years.. until now. This is the story of D06 Obstacle.

The funniest thing is that I discovered this cut by accident while messing around on this map in the editor. After I passed the checkpoint and noticed I was ahead I probably had the biggest laugh ever playing Trackmania :D

The graphics showing the racing lines are so sick! Hope to see more of that

"instead of hoping for chance, he just smashed in to it."
if brute force doesn't work, *_you aren't using enough_*

"yeah, the fastest way is to just drive the course as intended"

I'm actually shocked that was even a valid idea in a speedrunning community

The thing that made this shortcut not just really simple, but made everyone feel stupid, is that if you're a relatively new Trackmania player, holding the throttle and flying off the edge of a wallride is a classic _rookie mistake_ to make in any other Trackmania map. Yet Rollin smashed this record using that very same _"rookie mistake"._

You know someone is a good creator when you dont even play the game they are talking about and still fully watch it

They had it in front of their eyes but sometimes you see things from a different point with your eyes closed.... and that's how wirtual beat trackmania blindfolded

That line through the air is just so gorgeous, almost as though it was intended all along.

2:01 You put a flag of Slovakia here, but Vilivano's flag at the top left (2:08) is the flag of Slovenia. I know everyone mixes them up, but those are two different countries :)

I dont even play Trackmania, but I've enjoyed the storytelling. You convey really well how these findings came to be, and the excitement over these achievements. Keep it up!

They weren't kidding in the comments of Rollin's video "wait for Wirtual to make a documentary".

Fun fact about this shortcut: it was actually known for a really long time among casual stunters. The problem was that it was thought to not only be way slower than the WR pace but also not really worth trying considering how easy it is to slam into a wall or just slide on landing. I remember a few friends of mine having fun doing 180s off of it and barely landing on the other side, usually turtled or flipping from the impact, and then doing replays where the camera swoops under it Speed Racer style.

Okay, but the dang Tron Cinematic at 6:39 is top notch.

I'm still amazed by your storytelling abilities to talk for a shortcut for so long without me losing attention.
