I hope my mistakes will help you to avoid them yourself!

At the end of 2015 and start of 2016 I had just finished building work on my modelling workshop and jumped back into the hobby with this Finemolds X-Wing. Whilst I enjoyed the build I was very rusty and made several major errors - I decided to still make this video and upload it just to show that we all make mistakes in modelling and it's best to learn from it and carry on.

The Finemolds kit is a good effort but it's been replaced nowadays by the Bandai series which are excellent. Even so, a very enjoyable build and I learned some key things that I will use to make my Bandai kit much better.

No music on this video further to comments and suggestions, so it's just me, you and the model for 20 + minutes.

Don't forget to check out my Facebook page where I post most often!

Nice video.
BTW, I always use acrylics for washes, with very few problems.
I apply them over enamel or lacquer paint or clear coat, and clean the excess with a Q-tip moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
I find it less smelly and less messy to use than oil or enamel washes.
Allow the wash to dry to touch (about 1/2 hour) and clean the excess before it cures.

it's very rare to hear a modeler mentioning their mistakes, let alone make a vid of it, big huge kudos! btw the end result is lovely.

After returning to model making after 30 years I found this to be one of the most useful videos I have looked at before cracking on with my X Wing kit. Thanks for sharing your mistakes, its good to see the warts and all process rather than the edited highlights that make it look all too easy.

amazing work. I am really glad you showed the "mistakes" to show how we all learn from mistakes and we are all human. but again. brilliant build

Still, very nice work. I'm glad you showed us your mistakes... reminds us that everyone is human, and perfection impedes progress. If we were only to make things that were perfect, we'd never make anything. Cheers.

Seeing this inspired me to build mine. Thanks for this probably the best advice as a novice I have seen.

Dude i hope one day my best efforts can match your "worst" projects. Great job! And don't worry to much about mistakes.

The canopy is a cool color. Makes the x-wing look real. Like a replaced part on an old car. I know this videos old but have you guys seen x-wings offered by hot wheels 59.95. Each one gets detailed like this. I’d love to do a kit, but I’m handicapped. But this is a cool alternative to anyone’s collection.

8:08 I think it's rather gorgeous in the monotone grey, detail is so good . Also shiny finish will always look visually darker than matt -just one of those things - Great Job anyway !!
STAR WARS fans will hate me, but this would make a great sort of "reverse what if ?" in American or Russian markings and camo (Grey and blue splinter .) is that sacriledge ?? It's your model - it can be whatever you want - it's a fantasy model after all ?

Top bloke!
I make mistakes all the time Jon, I just try to save them for cheaper kits. You're right tho, Citadel paints are really rather excellent.

Beautiful build in spite of the small mistakes.

There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents.

Are you done with the T-70 yet?
