The Mojito cocktail is the quintessential classic Cuban cocktail. A simply constructed drink with fresh ingredients. White rum, fresh lime juice, sugar and fresh mint makes for a delicious and refreshing Mojito.

HISTORY

INGREDIENTS
- 60mL White Rum (ie. Bacardi, Havana Club)
- 22.5mL Fresh Lime Juice
- 22.5mL Sugar Syrup (1:1)
- 60mL Soda Water
- 6-8 Mint Leaves

Note: I usually go a little heavier on the lime juice (30mL) but I love lime...so give it a crack and comment below.

HOW TO
1. Add all the ingredients to your high ball glass
2. Gently muddle or clap the mint to release the oils
3. Add ice and quickly stir
4. Top with a dash of soda water
5. Stir & garnish with a sprig of fresh mint

my dad makes it with sugar free sprite and like one whole lemon (muddled). it might be a blasphemy but it tastes so damn good

As a lime lover, how do you feel about muddling limes before adding your rum? Personally I think it adds to the visual aspect of the mojito.

nice and easy with cubed ice! At the bar in working in we use a lewis bag to constantly make crushed ice for them. And I agree simple syrup is much easier and mixes well compared to raw sugar

Well, I learned to make mojitos in La Bodeguita and they always muddled the lines there. Plus, they never used bar syrup but real sugar. This is back in the mid 90’s, maybe it was different.

I'm glad I found your page, chief! I swear, this is the one damn cocktail that "beats" me every time which is to say; when I make it for someone and they don't immediately say: "MMMM!" and give me a smile/nod...lol. From this video, though, I think I see what I'm doing wrong. Too much soda water, not enough mint. Keep making these videos, chief, and as always, keep up the good work! Slainte!

How do you make sugar syrup? Just 1:1 water and white sugar?

If you used 30ml of lime juice would you use 30ml of sugar syrup or the 22.5ml
