Origins of the Jim Crow Era - One Minute History

Показать описание
When the American Civil War ends, the U.S. government enters Reconstruction with three amendments to the Constitution; slavery is abolished and former slaves are granted citizenship and the right to vote. At the state and local level, white Southern Democrats implement laws to suppress the political and economic gains made by African Americans. Under the “Separate But Equal” clause, the U.S. Supreme Court legitimizes segregation and social discrimination; treating black people as second-class citizens. Known collectively as Jim Crow laws, after a racial depiction performed in blackface, these laws reinforce racial prejudice and deny rights to black people in the United States. Federal legislation brings the Jim Crow era to an end, yet its long shadow still looms large over the struggle for equality.

Thank you for the concise video! I may have learned about Jim Crow Laws during my school years, but I regret not studying more seriously at the time.

Hatred came from not let people be together and next store to each other and get to know each other and do things together spend time together to get to know each other that they change their minds and know each other for who they are and get used to it as the years go by and by not doing it makes it worse then it was before because you will never get to know each other and find out that you have been wrong about each other that you are getting to know the real person and not what you have been thinking giving yourself a chance to change for the better and see. What you have been missing from not doing it all this time that it made a difference and you are giving it a chance to work together

* (John 14:15)
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

* (1 John 2:3-4)
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that saith, I know him, and keep not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

This is rhetoric that causes hatred. Only Jesus can change the heart. The church has been His will for us.

(Matthew 5:17)
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

(Acts 3:18)
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

I wish my parents were still alive. I grew up in Birmingham and I never heard hate speech and the pastor of the little church I belonged to was always open to all. We believe that all things work for good to those who believe. So much for us to study and learn. Who can know the mind of God. Come quickly Lord Jesus and take us home. You have been in control of the universe and only You can heal us. I wonder about the Israel in the Bible. The Jews were slaves of Rome and Jesus never freed them. Give unto ceasor what belongs to him and unto God what is His. Who can understand the Mind of God. We do know that Jesus taught the scripture. Ken Ham is a great source for teaching the Bible. Try him to find more insight on his teachings. We can always know what stands up to the Bible.

It amazes me that they gave the black man the right to vote and not women.
